Two PhD Fellowships in Organic Chemistry

Two PhD positions are available in organometallic chemistry and catalysis at the Department of Chemistry, Technical University of Denmark (DTU Chemistry). The purpose of both projects is to study the cross coupling reaction with manganese catalysts. The aim of the first project is to optimize the reaction conditions and to explore the scope and limitations. The aim of the second project is to study the mechanism by experimental and computational methods and to further develop the manganese catalysts. The first project will be supervised by Professor Robert Madsen while the second project will be supervised by Associate Professor Peter Fristrup and Professor Robert Madsen. Applicants should indicate if one of the two positions is preferred. The positions will be available from October 1st, 2013 or soon thereafter. Both fellowships are funded by The Danish Council for Independent Research – Technology and Production Sciences.

Qualifications:

• A master's degree in engineering or chemistry with a strong
  theoretical and experimental background in organic chemistry
• A strong commitment to research
• Independence and good communication skills

Applicants should have a thorough interest in organic synthesis. The studies will be carried out within the Division of Organic Chemistry at DTU Chemistry which hosts a total of 8 faculty members and approximately 50 PhD students and postdocs.

Salary and appointment terms:
The salary and appointment terms are consistent with the current rules for PhD degree students. The period of employment is 3 years.
